You'll instantly recognize cargo/work trousers for men by the extra pockets and/or hammer loop on the side of the thighs. They usually fit a little looser than other trousers. Cargo trousers for men are derived from original workwear, where comfort is key. Cargos can be made of anything from denim to fabric. Cargo pants for women are loose-fitting just like the men's version and often have a low waist.
With cargos, comfort comes first. These styles usually have a looser/baggy fit that lets you move freely. Today, cargos are a fashion trend and you can also find slim fit or tapered styles.
Cargo trousers were originally worn as military clothing. That's why they have a loose, very functional fit with extra pockets on the thighs. Today they're more of a fashion trend that you see popping up everywhere. This type of trousers isn't just for men; it also comes as trousers for women. Cargo & work pants for women are an increasingly common sight on the streets.
Trousers with lots of pockets are cargos, and the pockets often have a flap. When the trousers have a hammer pocket and/or loop, we call them work pants.
Cargo trousers go really well with high-top or low-top sneakers.
