Every now and then, Bert makes a pit stop at Brooklyn Gent, where he likes to call on Peter for help. With a helping hand from a pro, he dares to try that little bit more and finds what he's looking for faster. Handy, that free styling, right? And a session like that isn't just for Brooklyn ambassadors. Come and give it a try!
Bert De Backer is a familiar face in Belgian cycling, first as a road racer and now as a voice and face of cycling news and analysis. He took part in major races, including the Giro d’Italia and key cobbled classics such as Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders. His biggest win as a pro was the Grote Prijs Jef Scherens in 2013.
Since leaving the pro peloton at the end of 2021, he has worked as a cycling analyst and commentator for media such as Sporza, and he also speaks at events in the cycling world. For his wardrobe, he can count on the support and advice of Brooklyn. Profashional Peter from Brooklyn Gent is his regular stylist and makes sure his outfits always match his public image perfectly.
Always a cycling fan. That's why the 'Wielerfans' collection is a perfect match for the spirit and style of someone like Bert De Backer — not just because he spent years in the peloton himself, but also because he's still a true racing enthusiast, even after his professional career as a rider and cycling analyst.
The items in the Wielerfans collection — like sweaters with bike prints and T-shirts with racing themes — are more than just clothes. They carry the same energy, racing culture and bond with the bike that Bert embodied in his sporting life. For a fan like him (or anyone who follows their favorite rider), these pieces aren't just stylish, they're also a fun way to show off your passion for cycling!

Start with a good base and add character layer by layer. Combine different textures and materials, such as wool, flannel and corduroy. A print can add that little something extra. Don't just pull a jumper over your shirt, mix it up with a gilet, overshirt, denim jacket, blazer or sweater. Finish with a rain or winter coat and don't forget accessories like a scarf, beanie or fun socks. That gives your outfit more depth without making it complicated.
A straight or relaxed fit pair of jeans is a solid base for a casual men's outfit. Pair them with sneakers and a T-shirt for a laid-back look, or go for a shirt, knitwear and a jacket when you want to dress up a little. That way you easily switch from casual to smart casual without changing your jeans.
Not everything has to match. For example, combine a striped shirt with a plain knit and a pair of jeans, or play with different textures such as corduroy, wool and denim. One eye-catching element is often enough.
A good pair of jeans is an absolute must. Pick a pair that fits well, feels good and easily works with different styles. Got those jeans in three colors? Even better. On top of that, a few good shirts – plain or with a subtle stripe – and a quality jumper in, say, blue or gray are real workhorses in your wardrobe. Add an overshirt, a great coat or maybe even a gilet and you've got a base that takes you anywhere. From a relaxed weekend look to an outfit that's a little dressier.
